Undergraduate Testing Requirements

UNDERGRADUATE TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR ELEMENTARY EDUCATION

The elementary education program provides the skills and knowledge to teach and guide school children in grades K-8.

All WSU Tri-Cities students seeking a B.A. in elementary education must also complete at least 20 semester hours in an endorsable area such as English Language Learning, Bilingual Education, Middle-Level Math, Middle-Level Science, or Special Education.

ALL ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MAJORS MUST TAKE:

  1. Basic Skills: SAT, ACT, or WEST-B (taken prior to entering the certified professional program)
  2. NES – Elementary Education Subtests 1 and 2 (taken 6 months before student teaching)

ADDITIONAL TESTING REQUIREMENTS BASED ON CHOSEN ADD-ON ENDORSEMENT

To earn an add-on endorsement you must complete the add-on class requirements and the relevant NES/WEST-E test for your endorsement. (These tests are to be taken during your final year in the program)

*Students may request alternative testing arrangements for health, language, or cognitive reasons through the “Requesting Alternative Testing Arrangements“ section found along the right-hand side of the testing links above for each individual test.
