After briefly reviewing First-Year Writing course outcomes, this workshop will share composing strategies focused on invention, revision, and editing to help students navigate the demands of college-level writing.

BINGO GAME NIGHT
Presented by Global Campus

We are kicking-off our Week of Welcome festivities with a classic game of Global Connections Online Bingo! Join us from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. PST as we welcome new and current Cougs to a brand new school year while playing a few rounds of Bingo. Stay tuned for the code word that will be announced at some point during the game for an additional shot at swag prizes!

Bingo cards will be emailed to players on the day of the game.

Hey Running Start Cougs, We are excited for you to start your fall semester! We know this isn’t a normal start to a semester, and we want to you to start successfully. You are invited to a required virtual orientation to learn about resources, what to expect in your classes, and meet with faculty and staff who are there to support you. Connecting College and Career | Jump Start Workshop

Presented by Kristine Cody

The path from college to your career may feel like it’s out far ahead of you as you start your college journey, but the truth is your college experience and career experience are deeply interconnected. If you are strategic in engaging with the right opportunities, the choices you make in college on whether to pursue an internship, participate in a Career Fair or sign up to be mentored by a local employer will have significant impact on how prepared you are to join the workforce. This workshop overviews the multiple ways you can start and engage with your career as a college student.

Virtual Trivia Night

Presented by Global Campus

Set in the middle of Week of Welcome, our Virtual Trivia Night is meant to be a fun, lighthearted, game night where you can meet and interact with fellow Cougs while answering general trivia questions. To play, Cougs will be split into teams and use Zoom’s breakout room function to confer before answering each trivia question. The questions will cover a wide range of general knowledge areas so everyone is bound to be a master at something. The team with the most points at the end of the hour is our winner and will receive swag!

This practical workshop will cover strategies for effectively communicating with faculty and will include topics like how to send an email, what to do during an office hours appointment, and how to start a conversation about internships or other opportunities.

We are ending the Week of Welcome with a Retro Virtual Dance Party! You are invited to attend and enjoy a night of old school hits—whether you choose to dance on our Zoom virtual dance floor or simply leave it on in the background, join us to cap off the week right. We will breakdown our playlist as follows:
7:00 – 8:00 p.m. PST – Enjoy groovy hits from the 70s.
