Second Hand

Spring 2021 Fine Arts Exhibit
graphite drawing of a bowl, vase,

About This Project

For this project we were required to explore objects that were round and reflective and to capture the folds and lines of striped fabric. Additionally we were to use line, shape, value and texture to give life to our drawing. I really liked the interesting texture and shape of the glass vase on the right, and used dark values and line repetition to bring out the intricacies of of it. Because the vase is so interesting, I hope that the viewer sees this as the center of interest. I also realy enjoyed the interesting shapes created by the reflective nature of the tall glass bottle, pictured in the back. I tried to incorporate deep values on each object pictured so the viewer’s eye can grasp something unique to each object. I named this drawing “Second Hand” because almost all the objects in this piece are from a thrift shop. I often go to thrift shops to buy interesting kitchenware, and hope you enjoy looking at the pieces I have picked up.
