Grad Checklist

In order to take part in Commencement, you must have already graduated or have applied for graduation and you must register to walk in Commencement—in addition to taking a few other steps.

Participation in the Commencement ceremony is not a guarantee or an indication of degree completion.

Mandatory Tasks

1. Apply to graduate

Apply for graduation through the Office of the Registrar or the Graduate School. Check out these instructions on how to apply for graduation as an undergraduate student or how to apply for graduation as a graduate student.

2. Register to walk at Commencement

Once you have applied to graduate, you must take this second step if you choose to participate in the Commencement ceremony. (You will not be registered to participate in Commencement automatically.) If you plan to participate, be sure to register by the deadline.

Optional Tasks

Rent regalia

Rent regalia directly from the Herff Jones website.

Update your records

Keep your information up to date in University records.

Review your student account and loans

Ensure that there is no balance due that could delay delivery of your diploma.

Purchase announcements, diploma frames, class rings, etc.
