Academic Advising at WSU Tri-Cities
Undergraduate academic advising is a partnership between you and your professional advisor, and it goes beyond course selection. Whether you plan to enter the workforce or continue on to earn an advanced degree, your academic advisors will guide you toward that goal. This holistic approach ensures that you are engaged in your academic plan, connected to the campus community and resources and are earning your degree as efficiently as possible.
Whether you are registering for your first semester, exploring your major and career options or are on–track to graduate, you will find support, encouragement, guidance and accurate information through academic advising.
The academic advising program will empower students to take charge of their educational careers through a collaborative mentoring relationship between the advisor, faculty mentor, and student. This collaborative structure requires student participation in the decision-making process, helps students become lifelong learners, and encourages self-reliant problem solving through exploration of individual interests and values.
You are expected to be a full participant in your academic planning. This includes:
Being familiar with your academic curriculum
Reviewing your Academic Requirements report regularly (official degree audit)
Meeting with your academic advisor and faculty mentor regularly
Being familiar with academic policies and procedures
