EE Senior Design Team Places 1st at IEEE Competition

An EE senior design team placed 1st at the IEEE Undergraduate Presentation Competition held on Wednesday 4/13 at the University of Idaho. Led by senior-design instructor Barbara Phillip and Professor Scott Hudson, this team of students composed of:

  • Amjad Al-Shakarji
  • Daniel Cain
  • Trevin Schafer, team leader
  • Gabriel Fuentes

distinguished themselves for their outstanding job in developing a “Solar Aquaponics System for Kagoma Gate Village” in Uganda. Significantly, this village is eagerly awaiting the fruits of these students’ work. We are proud of these amazing students!

Consortium for Computing Science in Colleges Conference

On October 6 and 7, WSU Tri-Cities and its School of Engineering and Applied Sciences will host the 19th annual conference of the Consortium for Computing Science in Colleges, Northwestern Region.

Approximately 75 faculty members and students from colleges and universities in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Northern California will attend talks, panels, and tutorials on a variety of topics in academic computing, with an emphasis on undergraduate education and research. This will be the second time the campus has hosted CCSC-NW, the previous time being in 2011. For more information, visit http://www.ccsc.org/northwest/2017.

WSU TC Plane Soars into Top Spot at SAE Competition - Enjoy the video!

As recently reported, a team of Mechanical Engineering students has flown their WSU TC Cougar plane into a top 25% spot overall, ahead of LSU, UVA, and North Carolina A&T University, in the regular class at the 2017 West Aero Competition in Fort Worth, TX, sponsored by SAE. Expertly led by ME Prof. Messiha Saad, the team conceived, designed, and built this Cougar plane as a capstone senior design project. In the competition, these SEAS students valiantly distinguished themselves against formidable domestic and international competitors with decades of experience. Through their accomplishments, these students have proudly expressed the indomitable WSU-VCEA Cougars’ roars! Congratulations to Prof. Saad and this outstanding team of SEAS students. You may safeguard the world’s cyberspace with a cybersecurity-focused degree in Computer Science from Washington State University, in Tri-Cities’ School of Engineering & Applied Sciences!
