Upward Bound provides opportunities for students to succeed in high school and become prepared for college success at any college or university. These services are free to student members.

All information provided to Upward Bound will remain confidential.

We are asking that students attend weekly meetings, participate in events, and attend at least one summer academy before graduation.

Qualifications for Upward Bound

  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
  • Enrolled student at Eisenhower High School or Highland High School
  • Grades 9-11
  • Parents do not have a 4-year college degree
  • Not in another college prep program
  • Meet family income guidelines as established by the federal government
  • 2.5 GPA or above
  • Strong desire to begin college right after high school

Upward Bound FAQ

What should I do if I do not have a 2.5 GPA but I want to be in the program?

We still encourage you to apply! We’ll keep your application on a waitlist and revisit your application once your academics have improved.

How do I get accepted into the program?

  1. Submit an application.
  2. Academic documents will be requested.
  3. If a student meets the required qualifications, an interview will be requested.
  4. Student will be notified if they have been accepted into the program.

How much does the program cost?

The Upward Bound program is provided at no charge!

What if my parent/guardian has a certificate or an A.A. degree?

You may still qualify for the program as long as your parent/guardian does not have a four-year college degree and your household meets family income guidelines.
