AVID’s proven learning support structure for higher education is known as WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading). It provides a learning model that faculty can use to guide students to comprehend materials and concepts, and articulate ideas, at increasingly complex levels (scaffolding) within developmental, general education and discipline-based courses.
As part of our participation in the Dell Foundation research grant for AVID for Higher Education, there will be a professional development opportunity for faculty to learn how to use WICOR strategies in their classrooms.
