The Day’s Pay was a B-17 Bomber purchased during a fundraising drive at Hanford where workers were asked to “give a day’s pay and send a bomber on its way” to the European theater in World War II. The plane was purchased with these donations and flew in more than 60 missions in Europe.
The son of Day’s Pay bomber pilot Arlys Wineinger, Wyatt Wineinger, will be part of a turnover of artifacts from the Day’s Pay to the WSU Tri-Cities Hanford History Project Hanford Collection during a ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Hanford History Project office – 2892 Pauling Ave. in Richland. The public is invited to attend. Afterward, individuals may attend an open house of the Hanford Collection.
