Preamble

We, the undergraduate and graduate students of Washington State University Tri-Cities, in order to initiate and coordinate student activities in accordance with the purposes and objectives listed in Washington State Universities Articles of Incorporation; to represent student interests, needs, and welfare at Washington State University Tri-Cities on issues affecting student life and to supplement and complement the formal education of this campus, do affirm and establish this constitution.

Executive Branch
What is the Executive Branch?

The Executive branch is made up of the President, Vice-President, Chief of Staff, and the Directors (including Legislative, Finance, Marketing, Diversity, and Student Affairs). This branch makes initial decisions about the direction the government will take, and is responsible for putting on one event per month by all Directors except for Marketing and Finance. The events put on by the executive branch are all educational and informative. The events seek out to inform students and bring their attention to certain topics such as civic engagement, diversity and inclusion, financial aid deadline, fitness programs on campus, etc.

If a student has an idea for an event, program or something they want to develop on campus, this is the branch you would go to!

I have always been intrigued by the aspects of Finance and Banking throughout my life so I thought I’d pick one of those. Looking more into it though, I believe Accounting is the better fit for me so that is what I have decided I’m majoring in. I am now a sophomore at WSU Tri-Cities and I am the ASWSUTC Director of Finance. In this position, I continuously look over and add expenses into the 2017-2018 budget for ASWSUTC and attend meetings that deal with the budget. My favorite food has to be pizza or sandwiches. My favorite hobbies are rocks climbing or participating in anything that’s active.

Legislative Branch
What is the Legislative Branch?

Approves and makes changes to bylaws and funding requests. The Legislative branch is made up of the eight members of the Senate. Each Senator represents a specific student focus, and as a group they meet weekly to discuss all current pending requests that need approval as well as talk about student needs and how to address them.

If a student had an event idea, or a general complaint or thought for making the school better, any of the Senators would be the people to speak with to get the idea some attention.
