Fall 2021 SOAR

Welcome new Tri-Cities Cougs! We are so excited that you chose to join our family!

SOAR Orientation at Washington State University Tri-Cities is a mandatory program required for all new students and will provide Fall 2021 admitted students with the critical information needed to begin their academic journey at WSU. There are four required pieces of programming outlined below.

Which Type Of New Coug Are You?

First Year Students

First Year students are anyone who applied using the Freshmen Admissions Application WSU for the academic year immediately after graduating from high school (even if you’re in Running Start or taking classes in high school for college credit) or you haven’t attended college since high school graduation.

Preregistration

This portion of your SOAR experience will take place on the SOAR Online Platform.

During this part of SOAR you will receive:
– A special welcome message from Chancellor Sandra Haynes
– An overview of your entire SOAR experience
– Virtual tour of WSU Tri-Cities
– Information about Financial Aid
– Information Academic Programs offered at WSU Tri-Cities
– Information on how to prepare for your next step in the SOAR program, registration and advising

Opens April 15

Registration and Advising

In this portion of your SOAR experience you will be virtually meeting with your academic advisor to get registered for fall and spring courses.

These appointments will be individual and you can begin booking your appointments starting May 1.

To best be prepared for your appointment please check your WSU email for information regarding required placement exams and documents.

During this portion you will receive:
– A special welcome message from your Student Body President and Vice President
-Information on Campus Resources
-Information on ways to get involved (Clubs & Organizations)

On Campus Experience

The On-Campus SOAR Experience will be your opportunity to come to campus and see what it will be like to be a WSU Tri-Cities Coug! During this half day experience you will have the opportunity to hear from campus leadership, faculty, staff, and current student leaders about resources and opportunities that exist at WSU Tri-Cities. Your On-Campus SOAR Experience will include a tour of campus so come prepared to move around campus and spend a significant amount of time outside. We will also have lunch available for you at each session. You only need to sign up for one session.

Dates Available: July 14, July 16, July 21, July 23, August 5

Transfer Students

Transfer students are anyone who applied using the Transfer Admissions Application or have attended an accredited college or university after your high school graduation.
