SUMMARY:Forum on I-732 An Initiative to Tax Carbon in Washington State
DESCRIPTION:The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Benton and Franklin counties will moderate a forum on Initiative 732 (I-732) on September 30\, 2016\, at 7:00 PM in the WSU-Tri-Cities East Auditorium\, in Richland\, WA. \nI-732 will be on the ballot in Washington in November. If passed\, the measure will tax carbon emissions generated by certain fossil fuels and fossil-fuel-generated electricity\, with the objective of cutting emissions and thereby helping to combat climate change. The measure is designed to be “revenue neutral\,” by virtue of tax swaps and targeted rebates. \nAt the forum\, a representative from Carbon Washington (CarbonWA) will give a brief overview of I-732\, followed by representatives of environmental groups and labor organizations describing their support for or opposition to I-732. There will be an opportunity afterwards for written questions from the audience. \nThe forum will help voters in our community make an informed decision about I-732 when they mark their ballots for or against in November.

SUMMARY:Career Fair
DESCRIPTION:The annual Career Fair attracts student\, alumni\, and public job seekers. It helps employers seeking workers while allowing WSU Tri-Cities students to connect with potential jobs and internships. \nThe fair includes a Student Spotlight Program during the employer’s breakfast–where select students give 60-second pitches to employers–a job posting board\, an interview room\, and free parking. Other fair features are the Career Fair Guides. Guides ask employers a variety of questions to gain insight into what the companies are seeking and use this information to assist and direct students to employers during All WSU Student Access time. \nWSU Tri-Cities Students can find employers using the Student Incentive Game Card. Students seek out employers\, visit with them\, and turn in the card for prize drawings. \nEmployers interested in a booth can visit the Career Fair website at: www.tricities.wsu.edu/careerdev/careerfair. \nStudents interested in the Student Spotlight Program should contact the Career Development Office at careers@tricity.wsu.edu by September 15. \nWSU Tri-Cities students\, alumni\, and the general public register upon arrival the day of the event.
