SUMMARY:Day's Pay Lecture
DESCRIPTION:On July 23\, 1944\, Hanford Engineer Works employees each gave a day’s worth of their pay to purchase a B-17 Bomber for the war effort. This bomber\, named “Day’s Pay”\, was used during WWII over the skies of Europe. Descendants of the Day’s Pay crew will be discussing the role of their parents in the war and the impact Hanford’s employees made on the war effort.

DESCRIPTION:The film\, Iron Jawed Angels\, is presented by the History Department in commemoration of the centennial anniversary for the passage of the 19th Amendment granting woman suffrage in the United States. The film tells the story of fiery American suffragette Alice Paul\, who lights a fire under the veteran leaders in New York. President Wilson initially ignored woman suffrage but later supported it. Paul preparing to go to prison\, decides to fight for her cause.\nDirector: Katja von Garnier\nCast: Hillary Swank\, Anjelica Huston\, Vera Farmiga\, Patrick Dempsey\nPopcorn and refreshments will be provided.
