FAQs about Club Sports
Do I have to be an expert to join a club?
While you may join a club with which you are familiar, you are welcome and encouraged to try any of the sport clubs. Membership is open to all WSU Tri-Cities students and each club welcomes experienced and newcomers to their sport. Each sport club has a coach to assist with the instructional and training component of their element to help you learn and develop in the sport.
How are Club Sports funded?
The funds that Club Sports allocates come from Service & Activity (S&A) Fees. Club funding comes primarily from the fundraising efforts of each club. After the 2014-15 academic year, all clubs are required to fundraise at least 60% of their budget through a matching funds process to receive their full S&A allocation.
How do I join a Recreation Club Sports?
Any current WSU Tri-Cities is eligible to participate on a Club Sports team. Exceptions may be made for WSU Alumni and Spouses/Partners of a WSU student and clubs must petition to the Sport Club Coordinator for eligibility of these individuals before participation. Many clubs hold general information sessions at the beginning of each semester to recruit interested new members.
