Be Career-Ready: Signature Events

Career services offers signature events throughout the year to allow students the opportunity to experience interacting with business leaders, professionals, and community members. We strive to help our future grads by providing these events so that students are well-equipped with the skills they need to navigate real-world environments.

Career Services is rolling out a new workshop delivery process to meet student, faculty and staff needs. For spring 2021, WSUTC community members will be able to request one of the following workshops and specify any areas of special interest or focus to best meet the needs of the group requesting the workshop.

Professional Networking and Etiquette Dinner

This event offers students a valuable professional development experience to polish their business dining etiquette and networking skills by practicing good table manners and social skills.

VIRTUAL CAREER FAIR
October 14, 2020 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This year, the Career Fair has gone Virtual and is presented by WSU Tri-Cities and Columbia Basin College on the Handshake app.

WSU Tri-Cities offers one career fair a year, typically during fall semester. The Fair is open to WSU Tri-Cities students, alumni, and the general public.

The career fair offers students several programming components throughout the day, as well as opportunities to help students prepare and navigate the Fair.

INDUSTRY TOUR

March 16th and March 17th from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Registration Deadline: March 12th, Thursday

Industry tours provide students a “behind-the-scenes” glimpse of companies so students can observe real workplace environments and professionals doing the jobs they aspire to do or are considering in their career path. Students will also have an opportunity to network and interact with industry professionals.

If you are interested in touring a specific organization, contact Career Services and we will work to see if we can get you connected with that organization.

These tours are open to all students. This is WSU Tri-Cities Spring Break week to allow you to participate without missing classes. We will be departing from campus by 8:15AM (you will need to arrive by 8:00AM) each morning and arriving back to campus around 4:30PM. Lunch will be provided.

PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING AND ETIQUETTE DINNER, February 27th, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

This networking event offers students a valuable professional development experience to polish their business dining etiquette and networking skills by practicing good table manners and social skills. In addition, students will gain real-world exposure to formal business settings with area professionals and community leaders.
The evening begins with a “mocktail” networking reception where professional guests mingle with students. The Etiquette Dinner will follow the networking reception with a 3-course meal served in a formal table setting. As each course is served, students will practice their dining etiquette skills learned prior to the event at Etiquette 101 workshops. Seating at each table includes two professionals hosting four students.
The event includes a guest speaker from the community.

STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO:

*Attend one of the Career Services Etiquette 101 workshops offered:
February 19th, 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM
February 26th, 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM

*Pass a short quiz following the Etiquette 101 workshop
*Pay $5 fee to Cashier at Floyd 269B by Feb 24. Hours: Weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Note: Student Accounts is closed for lunch from 12-1 p.m. and 3:45-4:15 pm daily.
